Chain Bridge across the Danube

The Danube is true to the waltz, it is blue!

Castle Hill at dusk.

Unbelieveable sky at dusk.

Dedication to Stojan Vujicsics

On the outside wall of 66 Vaci Utca. A dedication to a friend, a poet, a scholar and a wonderful man.

Parliament

This gorgeous structure is being cleaned, should be even more spectacular when it is done.

Multipla by Fiat

My sister thought this car was neat. I, on the other hand.....

Multipla front view

It doesn't get any better from this angle.

Apartment house

Looking up at the apartment building where we stayed.

Front entrance to the apartment

This short street was right behind Vaci Utca, great location

Dead bolt Hungarian style

This door had no less than 3 locks.

Full view of the deadbolt

It took 3 full turns of the key to get this lock shut.

View from our apartment

Our first apartment was overlooking the street but we moved to another. While the view wasn't nearly as interesting I thought this had a certain Chim-Chiminy effect.

Chain Bridge at night

This was taken from Castle Hill, I really didn't think it would take. Great camera. Thanks Frank!

Funicular

This incline took you to the top of Castle Hill.

Funicular

View from inside the car.

Princeton High School Choir

The choir sang in St. Matthias Church. The concert was absolutely magnificent.

Kathie & Andrea

Kathie is director of the Fine Arts Firebird tours responsible for bringing the Princeton Choir to Budapest. Andrea is one of her Hungarian Tour Guides. I am fortunate to call them both very dear friends.

Margaret Island

This island is situated in the middle of the Danube. A large park, hotel and spa can be found here.

Pest side

Some of the large hotels and river boats that line this side of the Danube.

St. Stephen

This beautiful statue is found on Castle Hill next to St. Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion.

Synagogue

This is the second largest Synagogue in Europe.

Interior of the Synagogue

Beautiful interior. We were also fortunate to hear the cantor sing.

Stained glass interior of Synagogue

Looking straight up.

The HEV, Interurban railway

We took this train to Szentendre, a small town on the Danube northeast of Budapest.

The narrow alleyways of Szentendre

This just adds to the charm of this city.

Shopping in Szentendre

Beautiful day for shopping in Szentendre.

Tram

One of the trams in and around Budapest.

Anna

Anna taking flowers to her mother!

Alexandrov Family

Andrea, Dani, Anna and Victor

Wonderful, wonderful friends

Inner city parish church

We went to Sunday Mass here on our last Sunday. The organ music was wonderful and the soprano who sang Ave Maria fabulous.
